Company History

We are Agri Fintech Experts

In early 2020 we launched our first technology platform. This platform focused solely on improving the flow of funding to a vertically integrated meat marketing company that was selling boxed beef to domestic and international markets. This company was procuring cattle over the hooks from third party producers as well as maintaining their own inventory of feedlot cattle & backgrounding cattle. Despite this complexity, Sentinel Ag has a near real time understanding of this business and its ever-changing finance needs. Accordingly, 3 different financials institutions have since retained Sentinel Ag's services to access this platform to support $200 million in combined facility limits.
In late 2020 we launched our second technology platform, a platform focusing on increasing the flow of funding to companies that are selling feedlot finished cattle over the hook to third party buyers. Companies using this platform are able to simultaneously access funding for their backgrounding activities.
In 2025 we will be launching our third technology platform. A specialist platform that is focused on improving the flow of working capital to dairy farmers

David Coupland

Chief Executive Officer

David is an agricultural investment specialist who has held prior roles with Macquarie Agricultural Funds Management, Hassad Foods (Sovereign wealth fund of Qatar) and various private companies. To date, David has worked on over A$4bn of agricultural projects across Australia, New Zealand, USA, Brazil, China, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. He has extensive knowledge of the finance needs of the beef and dairy industries.

Scott Douglass

Chief Technology Officer

Scott is a technology development specialist. He has led teams for companies including Philips, Hitachi, HP, Symantec and various Government agencies. Scott has extensive experience in developing supply chain systems and brings a strong academic record from James Cook University (Physics & Electrical Engineering), University of London (Mathematics & Statistics) and the University of Sydney (Computational Modelling).

Kevin Maloney

Chairman

Kevin, in his capacity as the inaugural CEO, established Elders Resources Finance Limited in 1986 to be a specialty resources sector merchant bank. He was instrumental in building the project lending book to A$620m and financed projects exceeding A$4bn in value. In 1996, Kevin established a full mining service accommodation business in Australia. In 2007, the company (The MAC Services Group Limited) was listed on the ASX with a market value of A$210m. At the end of 2010, when his family trust controlled ~52% of the share register, the MAC’s shareholders accepted a takeover offer from Oil States International Inc. which valued the business at A$651m.

Fred Kempson

Non Executive Director

Fred has held a range of senior executive positions within the international investment banking arena including a significant period as Managing Director of ANZ’s investment bank(AIFC Limited) and Senior Vice President of Security Pacific Limited. Fred has also served as the Australian representative of the Bank of New York–IMB Geneva and the Deputy Chairman of the Australian Merchant Bankers Association. Fred brings a wealth of experience to the Board from the highly specialised spectrum of international investment banking and corporate governance having served as a Director on many publicly listed and private company boards both in Australia and overseas.
